Not beacause Lionel told me to but I have been using citric based Goo Gone without any problems. If you have been using something different without problems then "if it ain't broke don't fix it". They also suggest using their smoke fluid in thier locomotives which is BS. in my opinion. I've been using Megasteam for about as long as they have been in business which works perfectly fine for all my engines.

These products are not citrus based - it's really a petroleum based product with something along the lines of tripropyleneglycol methyl ether in it.

No acid - the citrus comes from limonene which is really there for a citrus aroma and to cover up the chemical smell.
