tapered boiler types

pictured from front to back...

Type XIII, #9 (5 5/8")

Type XII, #10 (6 3/8")

Type XIV, #14 (6 3/4")

the Type XIV can also be identified by the larger spacing between the bell and the tapered boiler section.  nice find as it is much less common than the Type XII, though missing all the highlights, it's very possible it may have been repainted.

the Type XIV can be found with "A.F. 13", "A.F. 14", "A.F." or only the two slots below the cab window.

it would appear that some owner may have added a threaded collar onto the key post flipping its gender.

cheers...gary

Thanks for that information, Gary!

I never cease to marvel that these old toys are still functional after so much time, and heaven knows how many hands.
