I need some help! I have a CMC engine with a non-operative motor.

The motor is the standard one used by CMC in the early '70s - Pittman model 9005B115, 12VDC, dated 7-25-73. There is one of the five commutator segments that has no continuity with the other segments. When powered up, sometimes it will start and run. Other times it does not run, but a slight turning "nudge" and it will run, although not at full speed.

If someone can point me toward a motor repair person with knowledge of these motors it would be appreciated.

Any help or suggestions that will get my engine up and running would be appreciated!!

Pittman motors was bought by Ametek a number of years ago. I've used many of their motors in several designs for my company over the years. Their part numbers may have changed. Probably not worth repairing. Many mail-order electronics houses carry Pittman/Ametek motors and I think you can order direct from Ametek as well. Not cheap in 1Z2Z quantities. Ebay-unfortunately, may be your friend in your search as well.

Win86 my old Williams by Williams FM Trainmasters have the large old pittman motors with several screws holding the case on i did at one time open 1 up out of curiosity it is pretty simple if yours unscrews to check the commutator and the solder joints.

Also bought some from the bay NOS Ametek's Pittmans date 07 for spare parts  for the Williams engines because the brush assembly are the same and replaceable.

My motor is running! The "old time radio repair guy" was able to see, under high magnification, the break in the connection between a winding and its commutator segment. It appeared to him that the wire was fed through a hole in the segment and crimped only. After some cleaning, re-crimping and a touch of solder all is well.

Again I thank those who offered suggestions. They did lead me to a fellow who understands circuits and was able to make the needed repair.
