Your cars radius should Handel those cars nicely.
I would rethink using hard board for road bed. When you spike your rail the spike will push all the way through the tie into the road bed. Pushing spikes into hard board is... Well hard. I have used 1/4 inch cork in my industrial areas. It is cheap and easy to work with.
Keep on planing your next move and you will have a railroad in no time at all
On the bright side hard board makes great roads and sidewalks. Shinny side up.
