Hello Everyone! Well it looks like Spring might actually come after all!I am looking forward to getting outside and doing some painting on a couple projects I have gotten myself into over the winter.

Can anyone recommend a brand and name of a Silver that would match for Postwar Santa Fe's???

I used to use "Old Silver" by Testors or Floquil, but I cannot seem to find any of that these days.

I am repainting a few F'3 frames, and doing some touchups on Santa Fe roofs.

Any suggestions are greatly welcome and appreciated .Thanks

kennyb,

Many times in the past I've turned to my local automotive paint supplier for my special needs such as yours. If you have a sample of the paint they can match it spot on. If you no longer have the paint take an item that is painted your desired color. Odds are in your favor it can be matched. You can have the supplier put the paint in rattle cans for you. The cost makes this a worth while choice especially if you plan on doing more projects using the same color .

Rob, is the Testors good for touch-up?  Does it come in small amounts?

Happy Pappy, auto parts places here do not want to, or cannot match paint without an auto trim tag number to go by. Attitude has NOTHING to do with it. Bob, testors makes small jars of paint as well as model spray cans which I used to restore a UP 2023 set. Chuck offered an interesting color to try, I may look into it myself. I needed the correct gold paint for a Northern Pacific 2349 restoration job and the man who runs MCW automotive paint for model cars was able to make up some custom paint in laquer that was an amazing match. I sent him the shell to match it.
