I recently acquired a large 38x12 photo print of the Blue Comet steaming through the farmlands of Central NJ.  I was hoping someone here could shed some light on the history or origin of the photo, it is not in any reference books I own.  It is colorized since there are no known actual color images of The Blue Comet.  Other than the photo itself, I have no other information on date or place. There are no markings on the print, front or back.  It is printed on glossy, heavy stock paper and I'm guessing it may have been printed between 20 - 30 years ago, so I wouldn't consider it "vintage".  A search on the web revealed that there is a 6 foot long poster of the image hanging in the Southern Railroad of New Jersey's Winslow Junction office.  However, no one there knew the origin of the image.  I've attached some photos for reference.  If nothing else, I think it's a cool, piece of Blue Comet history worth sharing.

Hello Joe -

That's true, all I can guess is that it is south of the Jersey City Terminal.  Were/when did you get your print?  Do you think it was mass-produced?

My guess is that it was shot south of Lakewood. Yes, these prints were mass produced. I picked mine up at an auction probably 15 years ago.

These prints were offered by Railroadians of New Jersey Historical Society in 1970s.

Actual photo location would be north (east) of Lakehurst, NJ as the signal system ended there. Signal mast is shown in photo.

Yes Clinton Station Restaurant (formerly Union Gap Lounge) does have a former Blue Comet observation car, one of 2 remaining of original 3 cars.
