I've found that if the switch isn't getting the TMCC signal, it won't program. I had one in my Holiday setup, and I couldn't get it to program. Took it to my bench and it worked fine.
thanks john but im already at bench doing testing. Im using tmcc maybe ill try legacy. other than that I really don't want to send it to lionel. im afraid if I go to a repair shop they will have no idea either.
When I take another one apart, I'm going to post a couple of pictures of some internal crimp connections that you should for sure solder before you do a permanent installation of a Fastrack switch. I've had a couple of them already fail and power doesn't get through the switch. That's fine if you have a power drop on every piece of track, but most don't go quite that far, especially for a carpet layout.
Gentlemen,
So far I have had no operation type problems with my FasTrack Command Control switches, I did have a LED light fail, right out of the box, for some unknown reason.
Now this is a real pain because LED replacement is not an owner type repair situation, Guns was nice enough a while back to explain all this to me. To me Lionel need to address this engineering problem and make these LED's an owner replacement situation. I love my Lionel FT CC switches, they work great from the Cab2 and the manual Controllers are almost bullet proof.

I sent the command switch back to lionel and they said it was some communtication problem. they replaced it at no charge. it works fine now. the only downside was I paid the shipping the first time. the second they took care of. switches are over 100.00 and I was still responsible for 18.00 ship fee. what are you going to do when I chose fast track as my track. I really want my layout all to match.
john,
From where did you purchase that switch, the store should have replaced that faulty brand new switch for you, if the switch was faulty NIB. Having to send the switch back to Lionel and pay for the shipping and not have a brand new correctly working switch for your layout should not have happened. NIB switches are suppose to work, the store should replace the switch and send the faulty one back, not you.
Please advise us as to just where you purchased the faulty FT CC switch.

William1,
No doubt about it every layout has some small bugs that need to be worked out, however having a FT CC switch that is faulty right out of the box, is really not that kind of a problem, the store where he purchased the FT CC switch, should make this good by replacing the FT CC switch for him, a NIB switch should be given to the purchaser, free of charge when he returns the faulty switch.
