I know some will say just get a DCS or Legacy system.  I’ve heard it all and never does the topic of a multichannel remote come up without somebody making the suggestion.

We don’t need all those options; we don’t do switching nor do we have a lot of operating accessories . Except for maybe a single passing  siding  and maybe very few accessories,  we don’t foresee them in our future and we’re perfectly content to set the trains in motion and let them run. We don’t believe we’re alone in this type of operation and are pretty positive the forum doesn’t accurately represent the number of people who are. we’ll never have space for scale locomotives and are perfectly content with the detail of our traditional size equipment. Because of economics and space limitations LionChief + is almost a perfect fit for our small displays.

Simplicity, Time, Space and Money have been the major obstacles to our railroad empire. LionChief abolishes these limitations by making it possible to easily assemble and disassemble a remote control layout capable of operating multiple trains on a single track system in minutes as opposed to hours at a reasonable price.

The only shortcoming in the LionChief  product for our type of operation is the inability to control multiple trains from a single remote. Our current 8 X 5 display consists of 9 individual loops with one train on each; no operating accessories and no switches. Our recently proposed display will be 9 x 6 with two mainlines capable of multi train operations and 5 more individual loops for single trains with the option to add three more individual loops at a later time.

One of the advantages of being limited in space is the ability to reconfigure, totally redesign and temporarily disassemble your railroad pretty much when ever the urge or need strikes. The thought of fussing with special wiring for a full blown digital system may complicate and discourage this.

Being able to move some of the power sources under the display and replace them with a single remote is a convenience which would encourage us to buy more engines to replace our conventional ones.
