As a result of some recent testing activity in the DCC format, I was surprised to learn how common and important is the mode of consisting. You don't hear much about consisting in the OGauge conventional or TMCC/Legacy world.

Here, here! Have you seen the wands (a stick with a magnetic at the end) that you can wave over some HO DCC decoders to remove them from a consist and vice versa? Hoping to do some of my own DCC testing activity soon. I received an 8MHZ clock oscillator from DigiKey yesterday and hope to have my own basic DCC encoder up and running by the end of two weeks from now. Would also like to do some RailCom work as well.

In the three-rail O world, the useful concept of “consisting” devolved into the silly term “lashup.”

But if I remember correctly Mr. Melvin both you and Hot Water love attending those "rodeos" and steering forumites in their place.
Prrhorseshoecurve, I have no idea what that is supposed to mean.
For those interested. The technology, complexed, (or simple), is, available from Lionel publication 71-2911-250. Advanced operating techniques, starts page 22.
Short circuit technique, that seemed to work well, with most TMCC operators, was to assign, the same engine number, to all units/locomotives.
IMO, relatively old technology, that's kind of cool. IMO, Mike CT.
The Lionel publication 71-2911-250 was part of the original Cab1/Command base when TMCC control was new, 20+ years ago.
Surprisingly: The MTH system uses a lot of the same coding. IMO, Mike CT.
Edit/Add: 12/26/2021 11:52 AM. I found a DVD in one of my MTH DCS units. Quick Start DCS video, Quick Start RTR Video. You gotta think: This, dead in the water, technology eventually will be revived, at least to some degree. Back to TMCC for now. IMO, Mike CT.
