I am converting an old lionel CNW dash 9 to use as a dummy between legacy powered and non powered engines to make a triple lashup. I removed the motors, but it still does not run freely. What more can I do?
I plan to find another old lionel CNW dash 9 to make it a quad or more!!

Is this the MTH DASH 9 made between 1995-2000?

I have done this many times.It should run free if you pulled the motors completley.If not pull the gears on the trucks.Nick
I thought that it was MTH because they made their CNW DASH 9 many years before Lionel made a CNW DASH 9.

BTW, I wish the importers would have modern dummies. I could use them to model DP units at the rear of my trains1 UP, on the Sunset Route, use 2 mu units at the front of many trains, and 1 to 2 units on the rear in DP mode.

pulled gears and it runs great!!Found another cheap lionel CNW 9 so I now have a quad!!!
