copied links not working

I recently posted a reply in an existing thread and inserted some links - some worked, but some didn't.  Problem appears to be how the "..." is automatically inserted to shorten the link.

Here are some examples:

When copying "ogrforum.com/topic/cross-reference-for-traction-tires", it is inserted as https://ogrforum.com/topic/cro...-for-traction-tires, which doesn't work when clicked on.  Message is "Invalid field value for field "content"."  Likewise for "www.lionelsupport.com/TRACTION-TIRE-REFERENCE-LIST?quantity=1" - it is inserted as https://www.lionelsupport.com/...ENCE-LIST?quantity=1 and doesn't work.  Also  ogrforum.com/topic/mth-traction-tires-for-lionel-conventional-diesels ("ogrforum.com/topic/mth-traction-tires-for-lionel-conventional-diesels")  EDIT:  Now, the last 2 links work, but I didn't do anything different that I'm aware of.

However, when copying/inserting https://ogrforum.com/topic/wil...86#70693070955142686 , https://ogrforum.com/topic/fin...oduction-locomotives , and https://mthtrains.com/sites/de...ire_Chart_020414.pdf in the same manner, they work just fine.

All of these links were copy/pasted into the post.  Why do some work and others don't?

This happens with MSWord and Outlook as well. I cant tell you why - something to do with the program recognizing the hyperlink address. But if you use the insert link button (the connected chain link above) and paste the link there, the hyper link should always (most likely anyway) work.  The same is true with MSWord/Outlook - right click in the window, select link, and paste your link there as opposed to directly pasting it into the message. My experiences at least.

Here is the response from Crowdstack Tech Support:

Hi Rich-
The ellipses that are displayed in the links are only to shorten the length of the entire URL in the text. The actual hyperlink that is used when you click on the link contains the complete URL. The ellipses thus is not a factor in anything.
We have tested this extensively and there are no apparent issues on our end. My best guess is that something in the way the user is copying and pasting the links. He mentioned using WORD or Outlook. Perhaps those applications are doing something to the URLs when pasting or there is something unique in his computer setup (some other script or application could be manipulating the URLs).
The only other thing we can look at is if he can provide a link to a specific post/reply where he is experiencing the issue, we can look at the specific post(s).

Thanks for the follow-up, but he didn't resolve the problem.  He may think that he tested it extensively (after spending 35 years in IT, I've heard that more than a few times), but there is a glitch somewhere.

I don't know where he came up with Word or Outlook - I never said that.  FWIW, I'm using a Chromebook.

Also, when the links didn't work, they would be displayed in the new window with the "..." inserted as part of the URL.  So, it's not just using the ellipsis to shorten the link - it was actually using it as part of the name when trying to open the URL.

If I encounter it again, I'll try to save some screen shots.

This hyperlink has a comma at the end, which is not a recognized character for the URL. Delete the comma and the link works fine. Issues are probably due to user error, sloppy copy and paste.
