Correct way to remove (restamped) 2029 numerals?

I'm sure the topic is posted many of times. I did a google search on this, and answers of all different kind. My friends lionel 2029 was repainted and re stamped. They guy who did the paint work missed a few spots where i was requested to touch up. The 2029 numerals were stamped on an angle and is noticeable.

My question, how and what can you use to remove the ink stamping on the locomotive without harming and stripping the paint?
