As was stated in Trains Magazine... For this loco, the Customer was right! Conrail insisted on the 645 20 Cylinder Prime mover instead of the yet to be built and tested H block. These locos still soldier on while the EMD Sd90's and/ 90/43's never made it to the "promised land"...for long.

Hopefully you did NOT read THAT in Trains Magazine! The SD80MAC units did indeed have 20 cylinder prime movers, however they were the 710G3 series prime movers, i.e. NOT 645.
