I just purchased an MTH 4 truck shay WV P&P that the seller says was upgraded to PS2 by MTH. If I don't start it up, It runs fine. If I start it up , it tries to move fwd then stops, Moving fwd it won't respond to the dir button. Smoke and chuff work only in reverse. I did factory reset and feature reset.. Samo Samo..Is there anytine I should do before taking it apart?

Wow, hardly know where to start with those problems. It really needs to go to a tech to test the board out of the engine. G
Does the engine play shutdown sounds when you turn track power off? If not, the battery may be dead or disconnected. If so, the factory reset would not work.
If the battery is good and the engine plays shutdown sounds when track power removed. You could try reloading the sound file, but I am with Barry on this. I would send it back and let the owner straighten it out.
By the way MTH doesn't do upgrades. G
I note the initial post says it was upgraded by MTH. I don't think MTH did upgrades.
