Please excuse my ignorance here I know little about Tmcc, I have a couple of Lionel TMCC C-420's that would be nice if they had cruise control on them. Is it even possible to add this feature?

Unless ERR changed the Cruise "M" configuration, the answer is no. The early C-420 uses a C07 Radio board which is not compatible with a Cruise "M".

Bill, any reason you can't change the board to a C08 board? That is a fly in the ointment. Are all C-420's the same way?
I've had to do a little creative moving of holes in the heatsink to mount the CCM in small steamers, but I've not run across a diesel that it didn't have room without any changes.
Boxcar Bill is correct about the version that I tried to install. As I remember, the Cruise Control required C-08 or higher. That is why I woulod have hade to purchase a new R2LC. But that wasn't necessary because the Cruise Control board would not fit between the hood sides.

That makes no sense, the CCM is exactly the same width as the DCDR, both measure 1.288 in width at the widest part. I have one of each sitting here in front of me. The CCM is about 1/8" longer than the DCDR, which is where I had to make adjustments in some small steamers.
John,
With a C08 you will not have front headlights on a C-420. My opinion the early C-420 was/is one of the hardest diesel to work on especially if your changing the DCDR. It almost ranks with the Alco S4

Gunrunnerjohn,
You got me. It was too long and interferred with the screw mounting columns.
Maybe you can get it to fit. I couldn't--so I wouldn't recommend it.
I can see too long, but not too wide. What I did for that issue is move the mounting holes in the heatsink to make it fit.

Are you saying the polarity inversion will affect you? Aren't they incandescent lights? If they're LED, you'd have to do some surgery.

I have the cure for that issue Bill.
Alright guys, thank you for the replys. Not knowing anything about the internal workings of my C-420's it sounds like it's a no go on installing Cruise Control or it's way too much of a hassle, especially for someone that knows diddley squat about them.
