Some of you might have read about the fire on the RDC car on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic line. Went down there today to see for myself and spoke with the GM of the operations department. Yes, one of the engines on their operating RDC did catch fire and cause some damage. The side of the car shows evidence of smoke damage and the one engine is probably toast. No interior damage at all. But the RR expects to install a new engine, clean up the damage and have her running again some time soon. Our TCA luncheon group recently chartered this car for a fan trip and, since it was our second exposure to this car, we had a bit of nostalgia attached to it. The good news is that we should expect this acr back on the line before warm weather next spring. Good news!
