Just wondered if anyone has both systems on their layout? If so is there an overall preference?

We have all three, i.e. DCS, TMCC, and Legacy. That way any visitors are able to "run what they brung".
I had both on my previous layout and will have both on the new layout I plan to begin construction on later this summer or early fall. I had no real problems with either system and want to have both available for as long as two systems are needed for full functionality.
Because DCS and Legacy/TMCC are so different in the way they communicate they coexist just fine. I have had both functioning for years with no problem, ever.
TMCC, LEGACY, and DCS. Just fine. Running everything with the DCS App mostly.
Always had both. While a few folks has some interference with DCS engine and Legacy engines on the same block, most find it co-exists just fine. With the advent of the DCS app controlling Legacy engines in Legacy mode that just upped the reason to run both.
I have both. Not expert at the use of either but they live happily side by side with trains running simultaneously on the very same track.
We have all 3 on our layout and it depends on what that person brings to run. Some have lots of Legacy and some have less DCS or vice versa. We got members that only do DCS or only do Legacy.
If anyone is interested, I've just published a free pdf download that provides al of the details necessary to connect both systems together using the DCS Application.
Take a look at this thread for details.
I have both. Had them from when they first came out. Started with TMCC and DCS. Now Legacy and DCS. I wanted the ability to be able to run engines from both systems.................Paul

Thank you very much, Barry!!!
Thanks Barry. Great help
I have both, many folks here do as well. They work just fine together and I really have no preference, I like them both. The MTH remote has a slightly better feel in my hands and that is about the only difference I can come up with. Not that the Legacy remote is bad or anything. I run my MTH engines with the DCS system and my Legacy engines with my Legacy system. I don't have them set up to run Legacy with DCS.
I have both. No problems.
i have been procrastinating about integrating TMCC into my DCS because my DCS works so well. I have only one Lionel engine which operates with TMCC. However, in the instances that Lionel makes steamer or trolley I must have that MTH does not offer, I need to at least have TMCC and maybe Legacy.
I have them all and they play well together. I have a special ground plane situation. I run live catenary and when I am running a TMCC or Legacy locomotive, I throw a switch that when thrown one way puts DCS into the wire and when thrown the other way puts earth ground into the wire. TMCC and Legacy runs fantastic with this set up.
I have been running both TMCC & DCS since 2000 & on my second layout since 2014. I run Legacy as a TMCC engine right now. I can even run conventional. Just can't run everything on one loop at the same time. I use the DCS controller most often. I'm planning on getting MTH WIFI.

I would go with the Legacy system, you will have all features that Lionel offers. And you never know when something will come along that you just can't pass up.
If your DCS is working well, all you have to do is add the signal wire from the Legacy system to all the commons of your TIU and you are ready to go. You can also connect your TIU to the Legacy base and use your DCS remote or app to run the Lionel items. As I said above, I didn't do that, I kept them separate and use the Legacy for Lionel stuff and DCS for MTH stuff. I also have probably 80-85% MTH on my layout. Anyway they both should 'just work' after you do that and will not have any effect on your DCS system. At least that is how it worked for me a few years ago when I added Legacy. It really was a very easy add on to my system.

I run Legacy alone (for a variety of reasons -- among them: it's simpler & works without fuss). IMO, it works - and works well for my extensive Lionel loc roster. I have LCS Wi-Fi in the box ready for an install very soon on my new layout.
