Hi Marty

I was at my local Hobby Shop last Sunday and he will also be doing the 5.O upgrade for free, if you buy the WiFi Module from his shop. The WiFi Module and 5.O upgrade is not yet available from MTH.

I am going to wait until the finished APP is out from "The MTH Skunk Works" in my home state of Michigan.

Thanks for the tip.

I saw you in the photos from York at the meetings doing the 5.0 upgrade. "Cool"

Happy Halloween.

Gary - Cheers from The Detroit and Mackinac Railway a "Toy Train Layout"

I have the app on my Android, but other than look at the maIN screen, a speedometer with a bell & horn.  Other screens have ome titles but are mostly empty spaces.  There's nothing I or anyone else can do with it until the module comes in, supposedly in December.  So there's no point in you Apple fans getting upset.

I asked MTH and several at the MTH AT York for the version 5.0 but could not get a straight answer out of anybody at MTH parts or MTH showing there trains and seminars, they were showing the engine with phone though but not running ?I had heard that we could get the download at York free which was why I went to York to get  version 5.0.

I was one of 4-5 persons who were doing upgrades to 5.0 at the DCS users group meeting on Wed evening.  We upgraded anyone who wanted to be upgraded.  There had been much advance notice given in the forum

When I was at the MTH display, they had two tablets set up from which anyone could operate, and to further demonstrate they ease of use, they logged my android phone into their system and I was able to control a loco from it.

Did I see ya at York?

Yes Marty, you did.  And I saw you.

Hi all,

Having been involved with the MTH app development earlier and with other app projects, I can tell you that the MTH app is a good deal more complex than most mobile device apps.  There are a number of things that the app has to do that are not common, including locating TIU's on the network, handling two-way communications to multiple IP addresses, and custom UI controls.  Apple looks at such features pretty closely to make sure they are done properly.  Since the app needs to communicate with MTH's own hardware (WIU), Apple  will be particularly strict.  It's not at all surprising that the iOS approval will take a while and it's not necessarily an indication that they've found something that needs changing.  It just reflects the fact that this is a more complex than average app.
