Good afternoon,

A new message came up on my remote today, saying "Out of Range." After looking through the manual, I replaced the batteries. After putting in brand-new batteries, I still get the same message; everything works fine when the remote is connected to the TIU with a phone cord. I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm running a PS1-converted Blue Comet, 20-3028-1. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Still getting "out of range" message from time to time. Is it possible that I'm not waiting long enough after turning on the track power? I looked in the book, but I didn't see anything about waiting a set amount of time, and I'm wondering if it takes some time for the system to be fully energized. I just tried running the Blue Comet again, after sitting all night, and it worked fine. This time, instead of starting the loco right away, I waited about 20 seconds after turning on the track power and remote before starting up the loco, and it worked fine.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

John

My apologies,  I should've clarified. The out of range message only shows when it's not tethered. Batteries are brand new. Track signal has never been less than 10.

OK that's a big difference,,,, Doesn't that tell us there's a  problem with the remote's transceiver board. It needs to be re-seated.
