hey everyone.
i have dcs version 5.0 and the proto 3 engines work fine. but my proto 2 engines start up when i turn on power. i have read the manuel and did what it said but that didnt work. and the proto 2 engine wont go into remote. why is this happening?

try just putting only the PS2 engine on a short piece of track that's hooked up directly to the TIU with everything else disconnected. See if it stays silent when you turn on the power. The TIU needs to be powered thru either fixed #1 or the aux power in port.
You have to troubleshoot on what the engine is doing.
What exact model is this PS2 engine?
What are you using for power? Etc.
is the battery dead?
Could it be the wires to the track from the TIU are reversed? Red tiu output to center rail always with proto-2.
Apparently with proto-3 it doesn't make any difference..

good point. Sometimes I assume that they have looked at everything. I know, that's wrong!

I hope not.... why would one throw away a good board worth about $200 and buy another for about $200 plus more? Did you have any luck or a chance to get at the problem?

No need to upgrade anything, it sounds like you need to go back and make sure everything is hooked up correctly, Use Barry's book or the OGR Video Guide and make sure you are setting up correctly.
If you have a faulty TIU, that is a different problem.
