Help with DCS TIU to WIU. I have an older version TIU with a RS 232 plug. When connecting SABRENT USB 2.0 to Serial (9 Pin) DB 9 RS 232 Converter Cable between the units the TIU didn’t light on the WIU. The app gets an error no TIU/WIU connection.  Ordered a different cable - TRENDnet USB to Serial 9-Pin Converter Cable Connect a RS-232 Serial Device to a USB 2.0 type TU-S9, that didn’t work either.

The TIU and hand held controller have been updated to 6.1 software.

Note I purchased the DSC system from train shop that was going out business. They used the system in the store as demo unit, not sure that makes a difference.

Please help getting my system up. My grandson (10) and neighborhood kids need help running multiple trains. They are having fun and learning wiring, construction and more.

I don't recall it being too picky with the adapters - Power up the TIU with a dedicated power supply THEN power up the WIU.
The colors on the WIU will also tell you whats going on. The purple light on the WIU will mean you have a good connection to the TIU.

Also try doing a factory reset of the WIU. May need a paperclip for the tiny button. Good luck!

Here's a video of how a TIU boots up successfully. Ignore the blue LAN light if you don't use that connection.

It's great to see kids getting involved with skills that will serve them well in life!!
