Bought used on ebay a few years ago, ran fine for a while. Then one day nothing. No sound, no movement, not found by DCS, etc. I don't have the packaging and believe it is from a RTR set: 30-4071-1.

What would you recommend for this engine? Clearly it's not a high value engine, wondering what you would do with this and what options you would consider. I am thinking of just listing the whole RTR set as-is on ebay and selling it, but would entertain repairing or upgrading to PS3 if it was a reasonable affair. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

It's going to cost more than the locomotive is worth to have someone put a PS32 board in it.

You have two options:

A bridge rectifier costs a couple cents and will give you forward only operation.

Get a reverse unit for about $50 from places like Dallee.

That is the freedom set so I may be desirable to some one. Are you sure something simple like a wire harness out of the board? It is the 5V board and they can fail. Value is up to you. I do have some used 5V boards as a cheaper alternative. G

Thanks for the responses. I took the engine and tender covers off - nothing appears to be loose or disconnected. I would be interested in repairing it and keeping it at least at PS2. GGG - I would be interested in the used board option - should I contact you via email for that?
