I recently purchased a MTH premier Norfolk Southern ES44 locomotive. When I placed the engine on my layout, nothing happened. I switched from my DCS system to conventional, and still nothing. I thought that the track may need to be cleaned because I haven't touched my layout all summer. Well after cleaning the track and trying the engine again, still nothing. I then placed my PS2 engine on the same track (the engines were not on the track at the same time), and it came on without a hitch. I tested my PS2 engine in both DCS and conventional mode. Has anyone else experienced this?

As Marty says "Model number?" Is it a Proto 3/2 engine? If so, maybe it is set for 2 rail?

It's a PS3 engine, I checked to see if it was set to 2 rail and it wasn't. The model number is 20-20504-1

Unfortunately, yes. If you're not going to return it for some reason, it would be easy to remove the shell, take a meter to see if there's power even getting to the board. I would start there first.
That would help rule stuff out. I have had a couple of bad switches that won't pass any power.
Is it possible the switch is reversed? IIRC some Lionel engines had selector switches installed incorrectly.

I have no plans to return it, I will be going back to my dealer and have him look at it. Thank you for that advice.
Check that the engine's DCS/DCC switch is in the DCS position.

That is a good question. I'm actually not sure I will try it tonight.

I checked and it is set to DCS.
On another note, thank you for DCS Companion, It has helped me in so many ways.
