Several years ago, I cleverly assigned the same ID number to my 2006 Hiawatha (6-38094) and the accompanying 2006 MR Stations Sound Diner (6-29199). While it seemed like a good idea at the time, both the crew talk and the station sounds interfered with each other; in other words, both played at the same time. After unsuccessfully trying to correct the problem, I put the diner back in the box and forgot about it. Until now.

The new Lionel 2024 catalog with the Hiawatha's listed encouraged me to take the Hiawatha and diner off the shelf, oil and lube them, and run them together again. And the memories came flooding back.

The upshot is that I have again been unsuccessful at deleting either one or both of them and reassigning them new ID numbers. I am using the Legacy control system and tried following the instructions in the manual. No luck. I then tried reprogramming using the programming modules which, I think, may have made things worse because now I have a couple of different numbers for the engine and the diner, which all need to be deleted.

By the way, the engine works just fine, the lights come on in the diner and all the sounds work. The best news is that I haven't yet fried anything.

Any suggestions, please?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

You can go into the CAB2 and simply erase the configuration for both of the offending entities.  If there are multiple entries, you can one at a time erase them all.

Enter the engine ID and press INFO.  On the row of keys under the window, press the right hand key CLR.  That clears the entry.  Do that for any TMCC ID you want to remove.

Then just follow the instructions and one at a time program the engine and car with the ID you'd like it to have.

Thank you very much. I was able to delete all the old numbers and assign new ones. I had seen that CLR option in the manual, but interpreted that as clearing only names, numbers, etc., not the entire entry. I should have tried it anyway.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to get my CAB 2 out of CAB 1 mode.

Thanks again,

Jim
