no but lionel is making a
sd38
What I would do for an SDL39. I would be tempted to buy all 10 of the Milwaukee 39s.

It actually is an SD38-2. Now due in July.
I believe these were catalogued in 2007 and delivered in 2008 . Early Lionel legacy.

I had only this one, but other road names were made.
Monon Jim:
OK - is it a GP38 or an SD38 that you want? You mention both. Lionel's SD38-2's are not out yet (as mentioned). The GP38's would be available on the secondary market.

I mentioned that there are GP-38's in Iowa and if " I have to get one of those I would but would rather have the SD-38. I want to reproduce this'. I asked If anyone made an SD-38. apparently MTH made it (20-20225-1, -2, -3) 2012 catalog I have found out and I have a post asking for one in the Buy & Sell.

MTH did make the GP38-2. Here are some photos I took at last June’s Galesburg Railroad Days toy show on one of the layouts displayed, an MTH scale-wheeled GP38-2.

The D&I, Dakota & Iowa, a rock and grain hauler that runs from DeSmet, SD to Sioux City, IA, has a couple of SD39-3 from I think the Southern Pacific.
Maybe in the next catalog
There were not that many SD38-2's produced by EMD. UP, I think, converted some SD40-2's to 38's for heavy duty switching service.
