Awhile back someone here (Marker, perhaps?) posted a great shot of 6-10 Warbonnet diesels. Yesterday we assembled our roster of similar engines for this photo session.

Here are (from left) PW freight, FT, Yellowbonnet, C-Liner, U28c, DL109, PA, SD40, E6, and a scale F3

Let's see your Santa Fe's!

Those are sure pretty Rick!

Could you use a second F7 B unit?

Didn't see an email in your profile so I posted this here.

Thanks for the compliment and offer Sam, but if my appetite for steam keeps going the way it is these may end up on the "for sale" forum one day. These spend most of their time on the shelf, I keep telling myself if I let them go I will regret it.

Sam and Rick - as a bit of historic Santa Fe trivia.  The prototype of that group of Warbonnet F7's were dual-purpose (freight/passenger) engines.  They were assigned to what Popular Science termed the Fastest Freight.  The Grape Train!  Look at the number 334.  Lionel's F7 A's are 332 and 333.

Thanks Marker. I had a set back last month with a leaking water pipe in the ceiling and onto my layout. Did find out that homosote can get soaked and dry just fine. Locomotives water spot really bad and popcorn ceiling makes a mess on rolling stock. Weaver wheelsets rust really quickly! I repaired the pipe and sheetrock, so hopefully can get back to laying track and wiring.

I remember that video, but forgot they stopped in Albuquerque. I often wondered if that photo inspired the "Along Your Way or Along the Route" booklets?

Check the buy and sell board I just posted yesterday some of my lionel- kline stuff in santa fe all like new and hardly used! Hated to part with it but needed to sell cheap to pay some bills. The geep9 was my first tmcc engine and brought me back to my first love lionel. I am sad to see it go. A friend of mine said I needed a train intervention. Maybe he is right! Letting these items go could be a start I suppose!

I hope it is OK to ask a question on this thread about the Santa Fe since there are so  many fans posting.

Who has the correct Santa Fe red color?  The Lionel looks a little off to me compared to the post war versions.  The Atlas GP60 M's appear almost burgandy (just not a shinny, pretty red).  The nicest looking F3"s were the ones MTH made in the late 90's when they released the El Capatan(? spelling) set.  But it seems the later MTH Santa Fe engines have a different red.

Thanks,

Don

I would add to it but....  I'm in China atm and don't have my photos of the layout with me.

I remember seeing your steam pictures from your Boston club. Also think I saw your son in pictures maybe at the home layout. Hope you will post some if you are back from China.
