Thanks, Brian. If I remember correctly (and I usually don't) the bottom photo is the Huntington paint scheme, which was the second one C&O's BL-2's were painted in. There also was a more simplified one what was mainly all blue and kind of plain looking by comparison. I think C&O had 14 of those units. I also have a few freight items, some I've custom painted, like these boxcars. I had to make different doors to make it more prototypical. Hey, us S guys have to do things like that to get what we want.
Then, there's these that are Hocking Valley repaints, the model is an S Helper Service item that is no longer made... unfortunately.
Great thread!
Looks great, Pat!!!
Ken
very nice Ken !!
a rare sight......B&O dome car.......
Moonlight Dome. The Moonlight Dome was built in 1946 for the C&O Railway for use on the Chess. This train never ran and it ended up being sold to the Baltimore & Ohio in 1950. The car originally was all sleeping quarters, but part of this was removed to include a lounge. This car seats 24 upstairs in Dome Class and 8 downstairs in Parlor Class. Moonlight Dome was extensively rebuilt in 2015 by Crossroads Railcar and is owned by the Cincinnati Railway.
Brian, That's a good stand-in for my B&O dome, even though my set is mostly blue. I knew it wasn't authentic, but the set is nice and dome cars are cool!

Around 1958/59 actually road in the dome at night round trip from hometown to Chicago. AS I recall the complete passenger car consist was the two tone blue with grey & gold trim like the E-units pulling it.
And OH as I recall all the cars including the dome were smooth-sided.
I need to get a photo of the passenger consist. In the meantime, here is a photo of my F-3 A-B-A set pulling the passenger cars you can barely see on the left. I think that's the dome right above the tree next to the church.
nice looking set of A-B-A's Mark......

Thank you, Brian! They are MTH Premier PS-2. They were NIB when I bought them recently. Run nice, too.

Mark, looks just like my Premier B&O passenger cars and like the dome I rode. The only thing I do not quite recall if the dome had the large floodlights on top as B&O did and if they were on. Do recall the speedometer though.
Ron
Kensington, MD was an important commuter stop on the B&O into Washington, DC. it remains so today on MARC. So it was only right that the Train Show today at the Kensington Armory wth the National Capital Trackers had B&O passenger trains and RDC Speediners in action.
a B&O themed layout, very nice.......
Excellent, Mark! I like the Mikado!!

We rode behind the 611 in this car earlier this year. Stunningly beautiful!!!
sunrise down at the station........
wow that sun was bright when it popped through the clouds......looks like a nice day !
just found out the local doddle bug broke down and was pulled back in by a switcher...
I am working on a trade with a local friend for these Atlas TMCC GP15s. Yes, we know the horns are missing from one and they have the same road number.

Thank you Brian! It took quite a while to find the caboose. The F3 A-B-A came to me as a dead MTH ProtoSound (1) GN trio with a heavily damaged B-unit. I got the thing running, and got a friend to repair the B shell and repaint. When I was growing up 1/4 mile from the B&O mainline, there was a parade of trains all pulled by dark blue cab units. I don't see that much in models. It was a tossup whether to go with the Big B&O or Baltimore and Ohio on the sides. After looking at a lot of prototype photos, I decided to ask him to do this. I have two PS3 upgrade kits waiting for me to install.
Mark, definitely a great choice on the B&O paint scheme !!
and that caboose is on my wish list !
you know B&O is my favorite RR, my initials are BO, and my Dad is from Baltimore.....

Thank you! Yes, there it is.
I remember BO.
The I-12 Caboose is a Lionel 6-17647.
thanks Mark on the caboose......
