I moving to Mooresville, NC in the spring from NY. Although there are no decent shows in my area, I do like going to them searching for stuff, and I even get lucky sometimes.

I live in eastern NC. I’m not sure about much around the Charlotte area, but the NC state fairgrounds in Raleigh hosts a good number of train shows every year.....really a cool place as there’s usually a nice antique flea market on the fair grounds quite often as well......My son lives in that area and we visit him quite often.....it’s not a bad drive from eastern NC......so I’d have to say from Mooresville to Raleigh to where the fairgrounds are........maybe couple hours??....three at the most???............Pat
Charlotte is now a dead zone for toy train shows and NO dealers either.
But back in the day (80's&90's) there were multiple dealers (a couple big/good ones) and several big shows each and every year.
All gone now!!!!!

Hi George! Welcome to NC!
There are several train shows in western NC. The Alexander Chapter NRHS hosts two shows yearly, Hickory in April and Gastonia in July/Aug. The NC Transportation Museum in Spencer has their show in May. There are also shows in Fletcher (south of Asheville) in Feb/Mar and in Oct.
Train stores close to Mooresville are Little Choo Choo in Spencer and Chuck's Trains in Landis.

There are several train shows throughout the year within 100 miles, there is a show in Fletcher near Asheville at the end of February and the beginning of October. Also there is one is Hickory at the beginning of April. And a small show in Gastonia around the middle to the end of June. The Loft is a great train store with a friendly owner located in the Winston- Salem area. If you are interested in Newton, NC is the SE Narrow Gauge & Shortline Museum they have an all scale Model Railroad Center with a large O Scale layout and a large HO Scale in the process of being built.
The Yadkin and Catawba Model Railroad Club is based out of the model railroad center and the have a traveling layout that is set up at some of these shows as well as at other events bunch of great guys in the club.
So come on down to NC we would love to have another train guy. Any questions let me know. Mooreville is not that far away from all this.
Southeastern Division of the TCA is having a show 12/6 & 7 in Raleigh at the Fairgrounds.
A little further out but there is a good two day show in Charleston every year. Was actually last weekend. The Hickory show is always good for me both buying and selling.
Stretching your 100 miles a little, there is (twice a year, fall & spring) a show in Columbia, SC at the Jamil Shrine Temple.
Buffalo Creek Vacations in Clyde (west of Asheville) is our club's home and we are having an open house Sat Dec 7 with three time slots due to limited parking. They have 4 cabooses and a WW2 Troop car that are being renovated into luxury hotel rooms (two operational now) and built a 'station' with our 30' x 50' layout upstairs. Very family friendly with a herd of American Bison, some llamas and alpacas, miniature horses, goats, they have 6 log cabins too. Raleigh, Mebane and New Bern all have shows coming up.
The Lionel Reatail store is in the Concord Mills Mall in Concord which is just east of Charlotte on I 85. Lionel also usually has a rwo day warehouse sale at their location in Concord . Its usually the first weekend in November.

The good old days!!!! Train shows at Metrolina Fairgrounds, shows at the PTL Resort (don't laugh...good show) A number of Toy % Hobby shows that were a mix at Concord and Merchandise Mart. Whistle Stop Hobby, Train LTD and even a Hobby Town. Today ZERO hobby shops of any kind. Odd a city that big has nothing. Mooresville has a BIG Hobby Town but one small isle of train stuff. Good luck....I fled NC just in time.
I did go to a couple of Metrolina shows as well *** the show TCA Southeastern had in the church just south of the beltway in Charlotte. They were pretty good. Be nice to get a Southeastern TCA show back in the area.
