Because of the heat and humidity, people in the Houston area come out for WINTER. Our heat indices can hit higher than 110!
Guilt admission - I haven't run my trains since May. Too many spring /summer vacations, activities, and outside chores. Hope to get down to the basement once the weather gets cooler and things slow down.
Yes, yes yes. It is my hobby. So participate in 4 seasons. Summer is actually pretty good because the basement stays cooler than the upstairs.
My round robin group meets weekly geneerally although in summer, sometimes we skip a week.
Of course! But, considering your situation I understand the question.
Yes, but I have an outdoor layout and I'm in Vegas so it's only a little cooler than the surface of the sun, so I run in the evenings when it cools down to only 105. On a good note, my loops get a lot bigger when it's 117 degrees in the shade. The rails just weld themselves together. When a building melts I just put it with the others in an area I call 51.

Hi! sure - all year around! No basements in Dallas so Trainville is family room. High, dry, air conditioned and right off the kitchen.

Dominic, sure, I'm outside of Tomball and have insulated 3rd garage with AC.
I run trains all year long.
Got my smallest train running this afternoon. Went to Walmart and bought the battery to make it run. It’s a Chessie 3 car fright on a loop of track. The train is over 35 years old and had to persuade it to run by bumping it a few times then off it went.

Summer is the best time to trains and work on the layout. The weather is too nice in the winter to stay indoors
I run them all year round.
This spring/summer not so much from very late April - just last week when I started running trains at lengths of time regularly. This summer has been busy for me work wise and with no time left for trains. I did occasionally let the trains run April - August for about 5- 10 minutes at a time just so dust wouldn't fowl the tracks.
I must say I do enjoy seeing them run now!

Patrick, absence can make the heart grow fonder.
Does a bear do his business in the woods?

Indeed it does Arnold! Indeed it does!
Years ago I decided that through the year if it was a rain day outside it would be a train day inside. Well that worked out great up until this year. Mother nature was not helpful and for some unexplained reason outdoor work took up most of the spring a well as the summer. But today I made it a point to go to the attic and enjoy some running the trains. No doubt about it it is therapeutic. 20 minutes of watching trains and I feel like a new person. Now if I can just get more train time in everything will be all right in the world.............Paul 2

My mother used that expression all the time to discourage me from being over eager and getting too involved with some girl when I was a teenager. LOL, Arnold
You mean people have trains and DON'T run them year round? Are they on this planet?
Living in a coastal Mediterranean climate (Santa Barbara) where temperature variation is not great, summer is often the time I do the most on the layout. We don't travel in the summer, so it's a great time to get things done.
I work on my trains summer or winter but in basement in the summer is the place to be. When I retired from farming after 45 years I had had it with working all the time in hot weather. Now with a cool basement I love working on my layout during the day and running trains during the evening for a while.
Here in Phoenix, summer is our winter and a time to be indoors. I run trains year round, but in the winter they have to share time with my Harley, classic cars and other hobbies outdoors.
I have two boys who play travel baseball. The train room is left to the crickets from April to November.
Run mine 365! ONLY way to fly! ☺
In Arizona, summer is train season! Too hot to go outside, have to wait until winter for outdoor activities!
