Well the next turnout that needed the DZ1008 relay was a #8 curved turnout. I had switched the green and red diodes on both the switch and the remote so the broader curve which was a siding had red and the sharper curve, the mainline, had green. It worked great before the relay was attached. Then the same thing happened as before. One diode on the turnout would only light while the remote button was being pressed. But now when I pulled out the offending diode and turned it around 180 degrees, both on the turnout stopped working and both on the remote stayed lighted all the time. Frustrated, I turned it back around and decided to just live with one light out on the turnout all the time.
The first moral of the story is I should have made sure I had a plan without any long turnouts so no relays would be needed. Moral number two is I don't know what the heck I am doing when it comes to these diodes and relays.
And I have learned something else. I need stronger glasses. Man this stuff is tiny!
