A particular CSX advertisement claims one of their diesel electrics can move 1 ton of freight nearly 500 miles on a single gallon of fuel.
Do you think this is an accurate claim, or are they are pulling the same trick that Chevy did with the Volt, maybe the engine can go 400+ miles on charged batteries alone and the gallon of fuel is just needed to charge the batteries enough to go that final few miles?
