Engine turns off after blowing Whistle

Check the speaker, even though the speaker might ohm out correctly, it might have a crack in the cone that the whistle function really distorts and causes a short that shuts down the electronics.  I would try a new /different speaker if you have one available.

Does turning the volume way down allow the whistle to play?

I can no longer turn down the volume because DCS remote can't find the engine.  The engine does power up by running it in conventional.  Unfortunately, I don't have another speaker.  Ken

There should also be a volume pot that you can turn volume off with for conventional operation.  I have seen this before and it was a bad speaker.  It overloads the 5V circuit that runs the components on the board, which is why you get a shutdown.  I would be careful of repeating this until repaired.  Shorting the audio amp can cause it to fail.   G

No problem.  Looks like that is the PS-2 3V engine so you need a 4ohm speaker.  Only question is what size diameter.  50mm is common.  I have all 3 types in stock though.  G

I returned my engine to Trainz and they repaired it without any charge. I was not sure if they would repair it or not since it was past their 2 week return time, but since I purchased an engine tune-up from them and less than 30 days, they repaired it.   You were right it was a speaker problem so they replaced the speaker.  I got the engine back this past week and it runs good.  Thanks for your help.
