This is my first time using an ERR cruise commander, but I do have experience with speed control as my early 2000 engines have Odyssey. I have noticed that there is a very drastic difference in speed between speed step 1 and 2 on the Cruise Commander. Is this normal? All my Odyssey engines have smooth transitions between each speed step, but the Cruise Commander just seems very abrupt between those first two speed steps.

Did you run it in either R100 mode or CAB1 mode? Did you program it for 100 speed steps? I've installed probably knocking on the door to a hundred Cruise Commanders, I see better speed control than the old Odyssey I engines which only have 32 speed steps.

I have it set to 32 speed steps in R100
That's your problem, try 100 speed steps with R100 mode.
Activate 100 Speed Steps: AUX1 + 0 + AUX1 + 0 + BOOST

Ok

100 speed steps definitely works better. Now all that's left to is add a fan driven smoke unit, one of your Super Chuffers, and your Chuff Generator.

Gee, I have the same locomotive, I did the full treatment on it. I also added ground lights since I could.

I probably will add ground lights as I love stream lined engines with them.
