excessive Horn

Typically, the horn continuing on is a lack of communication with the locomotive.  I didn't see any difference with 4.30, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

 

Odds are that when you handled the TIU and remote during the update process, you caused one or both of the transceiver boards to come loose

Regardless, it's almost certainly not a 4.30 problem.

I brought the TIU's upstairs to the computer to do the down loads.  Is there a way to check the transceiver board?

Yes, there is.

 

Connect each TIU's Remote Input port to a DCS Remote, one at a time, using a 4-conductor, curly telephone handset cord. Then, try to recreate the problem. If the problem is gone, there's a loose transceiver board in one of the two devices.

 

Note that when connected, the remote will talk only to the TIU to which it's connected, and that the other TIU will not be accessible.

One of the symptoms I experienced with 4.3  I checked RF boards in remotes and TIUs.  I thought one of the boards was 'a little loose'.  The problem was still there after checking.

 

I went back to 4.2, the problem is gone.

Evidently the transceiver board is loose.  The steam locomotive worked fine when connected to the TIU and when I went back to remote it work ok.  The one diesel worked ok when connected.  When disconnected it still had excessive horn.  Another problem is that TIU can't find the engine or out of range.  Before I take anything apart.  What the procedure.
