Extended Start

A friend just asked me how to do an extended start, however; despite running MTH trains for 20 years I never heard of it. Do I need the latest TIU upgrades to perform the extended start. I have Barry ‘s 3rd edition book but I didn’t see it in the index or subjects list at the end of the book. Can someone just get me started and I can go from there. Thanks

In the S1-S5 buttons of the DCS remote find "SSU". You might have to use the arrow key to find it. Instead of pushing start up use that key. Incidentally "SSD" is extended shutdown.
