I am confused. I am just getting back into this after some years, I only have room for a temporary layout and have converted to fastback. I have everything wired and everything was running great for a week or so. This morning I came out to run the trains and all of a sudden I get a short when I run the track with the gateman(75th anniversary edition) connected. I have it wired so the light in the gatehouse stays on all the time, it still does, but when the train hits the activation track I get a short now. It worked fine yesterday and now I get a short. I've checked all the connections and everything is fine. I just don't understand how this could happen over night. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.

First, unhook the gateman. If the short goes away, it’s not the track.
Thanks for the reply. If I disconnect the one wire that activates the gateman coming out there is no short. The light inside stays lit ok. I just don't understand how it worked fine for a week or two and all of a sudden today I get this short.
John,
It's very simple the Gateman has a short in it, probably one of the wires is shorted to ground under the base. It probably happened at a thin spot in the gate man wiring. Should not be hard to find and fix.
Good luck

Thanks for the help. I redid a wire connection and the short cleared up.
