Fastrack Issues lack of voltage

First, the hot wire should go to the center rail. Second, the AIU is not meant to power track, as they only can handle a 3 amp load. Bypass the AIU and report back. You should at least have 16 volts at the terminal track to start with. Where does the third wire go?

Hi,  I meant a TIU not a AUI.  Doesn't matter whether hot is to the center or outside it goes up to 3.5 with the hot on the center.

What I mean by 3 wires is I have 3 points of my layout that have power points.  This layout is probably 45 feet in length, is 3 enough or do I need more?

The issue currently expressing is almost certainly in the TIU. What happens when you remove the TIU from the equation? And as stated above, your center rail should be HOT, the outside rails, COMMON.

Before you do anything, follow bmoran4’s suggestion and bypass the TIU to be sure there is no other problem.

If that works reconnect the TIU.

Track voltage is controllable with the TIU.  The TIU has 2 fixed voltage and 2 variable voltage terminals.

You did not indicate what you are running, conventional, DCS or Legacy/TMCC.  Using your DCS controller you can set the variable channels to fixed and set the starting voltages.  It is possible that you accidentally changed the voltage.

Using the remote:

• press TR
• press the button under ALL
• Scroll and select TIU
• Press the button under TSV(track starting voltage)
• use the thumbwheel to change the voltage.

Instructions are included with the TIU and remote or available on line.

Lets us know how you make out.

Thanks.  Train will run on just the transformer so something is not right with the TIU.  I will do what you suggest.

Are you running conventional or DCS command?  If you're running command, use FIXED #1 input for the transformer and FIXED #1 output for the track.  See if that changes things.

If you're running conventional with transformer handles, what is the TIU doing in the picture at all?
