I have a new Fastrack switch 036 that chatters like it is trying to switch every time a train is on it. Any ideas what the problem might be? It doesn't do it when the there is no train on it.

That usually happens when the switch is being commanded to throw in both directions at the same time. Look at the anti-derailing throws and external wiring. The through wire and the turn wire may be swapped.
The non derailing feature is shorting out somehow and trying to close and open the switch continuously when the train touches the isolated rail. Look for anything conductive across the gaps of the isolated activation rail. Is this a manual or remote switch? If it's remote, can you throw it remotely and have it stay in the direction you through it or does it do the same thing?

Check the two limit switches inside, those are a common failure point. Many times, the pie shaped gear doesn't quite activate the switch, I've had to add a little bump of JB-Weld to several to activate the switch as there is no adjustment offered.
