A customer turned me onto this a while back. I have just started wiring my new layout. These ferrules are working out pretty good. I like to use the European style terminals for accessories and track power but did not really like fastening stranded bare wire into them. The ferrules shown below turned out to be the answer. I made the shorting strip starting with a single wire ferrule and then continued with double wire ferrules. the company will sell ferrules all sizes of wire. A special crimp tool is needed but it is ratchet style and very easy to use.
Just be careful if you order. There are ferrules where the metal pin is customer crimped (what I use) and ferrules where the metal pin comes already crimped (I think the wire is crimped on the plastic end???)
