I am wondering if anyone still uses this as a lighting element on their layouts and if there is any "demand" for it.  I have access to various lengths and am wondering if I should attempt to sell it...I know a "hobby mirror and a bright led light reflected into the fiber will put "light bulb" type lights into structures and on light posts that add nuances to dark scenes on model train layouts, but I am wondering if anyone still does this.

A 1000 foot spool new is on sale for $210. but who needs 1000 feet...

a 10 foot "patch cable" is $15  and you have to destroy it by cutting off the ends...

I would sell at $1.00 a foot plus shipping..buy what you need and no ends to cut off.

You would have to determine shortest length and you will get total footage in pieces..average length is 10 feet..

If this is in the wrong location on the forum I apologize

what are you considering "optical grade" fiber?  If you have the lens and the receiver the fiber is available..you could buy a fiber tool they sell at home depot and take it apart and use that lens and camera but then you would need a wireless transmitter and a receiver to get the images..optical grde fiber is here http://www.edmundoptics.com/op...de-fiber-optics/1352

or easier
