Does anyone have a fire train on a layout.

Anyone build a fire train, or is building one or has plans to build one. I just read that fire trains are still used today in europe, and was surpirsed to find out that BNSF has one on a ready track.

If you have one, could you post some pictures on what you made.

That is a Beautiful Locomotive.  Where can I get myself one?  I'm a FireFighter, and love collecting things that tie into the Fire Service, especially things that actually move, not just sit on shelves.

Don't have it out now, but I have this Lionel NYC version. Always thought it was a neat deal that it has sounds and TMCC. The Fire Instruction car is tethered to the engine, and contains the TMCC and Railsounds, including CrewTalk and Towercom. Have the water tank car, ladder car, emergency work caboose (these are seen in a photo above), and a K-Line NYC searchlight car as well (the searchlight rotates as the car moves), which is the same teal green color as the engine.

It's real colorful at night, with flashing red lights on the engine, ladder car, and strobe on the caboose, plus the rotating searchlight. With the siren going from the sound car, it's an attention-getter.

Thank you John. The number 12 is for the 12th anniversary.

The engine was done by Jeffrey Steinbacher, JDS Trains. He also did the trooper train I have. Jeff has been a regular at York in the Orange hall. He is a great guy.

Jeff started working for MTH the beginning of September, so I don't know if he is doing these anymore. His website is http://www.jdslimitedproductions.com/index.html, but I didn't see anything when I went there just now. I don't know if he took it down.

UPDATE  Jeff e-mailed me. He is alive and well, but very busy moving to the Columbia, Md. area. He will still be doing these custom jobs and will be at York. From doing 2 engines with Jeff, I can tell you that IMO he is absolutely first class.

Gerry
