1.1 is the latest.
Thanks marty
in am having trouble connecting with the app. I get a “time out” message when I try to add an engine. Checked a previous Posting that said there was a bug and to shut down one of the fixed voltage outputs and it would go away. I did and the time out message did go away. Not I get “no engine found”. Note, everything works fine using the hand held remote. Any suggestions
I'm going to ask that this be moved to the DCS forum. It's currently in the DCC forum. Might get a better answer there.
Bill,
You must be using DCS 6.1 in the TIU and the latest version of the DCS App (3.1.0). If you also use the DCS Remote, it must have DCS 6.1, as well, to match the TIU.
Posting that said there was a bug and to shut down one of the fixed voltage outputs and it would go away.
That's nonsense.
Hi Barry
My TIU is 6.1 and WIU is 1.1 and app. is up to date
As stated everything works fine when using the remote. my app. Is Linking with the WIU and the WUI is linking with the TIU. also app is set for TIU NOT the Explorer . Any further advice.
follow up my remote is also 6.10
Bill,
Some questions:
- How are you powering the TIU?
- Is the TIU a Rev. L, or earlier model?
- Is the WIU in MTH or Home mode?
- What LEDs are lit on the WIU?
- After establishing a WiFi connection between your device and the WIU (if in MTH Mode) or your network (if in Home mode) how long are you waiting before launching the app?
- Are you doing a Refresh before looking for an engine?
- Are you using the More... Screen/Advanced Features/System Settings to ensure that the app sees the TIU, and that the TIU has the DCS signal turned on for all channels?
- How is the WIU connected to the TIU, via the serial port or the USB port?
In the order you asked
* TIU is powered by transformer through fixed inputs 1 and 2 ( note red light comes on with transformer off, i be leave it is getting power via USB from WIU. if i unplug USB cable Red light in TIU goes out.
* TIU is Rev. L
* WIU is in MTH mode
* Powder, WiFi an TIU all lit steady on
* I go to settings on my ipad, connect to MTH than launch app. consecutively (i have waited 1 minunit)
* Yes i have refreshed before looking for new engine to add
* Yes in have verified in TIU mode from features/system settings than refreshed from there.
* i assume DCS singles turned on all channels as everything works using the remote
* WIU is connected to the TIU via USB cable
Bill,
TIU is powered by transformer through fixed inputs 1 and 2 ( note red light comes on with transformer off, i believe it is getting power via USB from WIU. if i unplug USB cable Red light in TIU goes out.
That could be at least part of your problem. The connection to the TIU is supplying only power for the TIU to wake up but not enough power for the TIU's DCS signal generators.
If you only have transformer power into Fixed #2, the app will not find any engines at all. Ditto for the remote.

I always power up fixed 1 and 2, fixed 2 is always necessary to power the TIU. I am running out of ideas.

i Believe I am making headway. I learned in a legacy engine from the app with no problem at all but still could not learn an MTH engine. I moved the MTH engine to a test track located next to the TIU and learned in engine without any problem. I returned the engine to the main line track and can control it without any issues. I preformed a single strength test and showed a number 4. I am thinking you need a stronger single than 4 to “learn in” an engine but 4 is sufficient To operate once in the system. Your comments are valued and appreciated thank you
This may be a dumb question, but how do I determine what firmware release my WIU is???
There is a post called “WIU update proof”. That gives a full explanation on how to verify your version level
Bill,
I learned in a legacy engine from the app with no problem at all but still could not learn an MTH engine.
That isn't at all relevant to your situation.
Legacy and TMCC engines will always add to the DCS Remote or the DCS App, even if they aren't even present on the layout's tracks. On the other hand, DCS engines have to identify themselves to the remote or the app while TMCC and Legacy engines do not have to do so, because they cannot do so.
I am thinking you need a stronger single than 4 to “learn in” an engine but 4 is sufficient To operate once in the system.
For all intents and purposes, that's correct. An "Add Engine" command requires very strong DCS signal strength.
Regardless, a DCS signal strength of 4 indicates an issue at that point of the layout or with a particular TIU channel.

Here is a super easy way to tell:
From a web browser, type in the IP address of your WIU unit to open the login page for the LuCi web console. From this page you can determine which firmware version your WIU is running. See Below:
This particular WIU is running Version 1.1
