I have a 617 power car,2 ea. of a 617, a 618 I believe they call it an observation car. It is single door on coaches,has a whistle, but it is an Army green color on the 617 ? I don`t see Army green in anything I read. Black and gunmetal look like they are the only colors posted ? It runs great. What is it year wise?

The initial issue date was 1935, and did come in various paint colors. The type IV from Doyle's catalog, lists Olive Green, and sides of the consist are fluted sides, not smooth.

The 617 with the olive green cab top was a special set made exclusively for a Baltimore Department Store in the late 30's. I am sorry but I forget the name of the store. According to my research it was made with chrome fluted sides. The 617 with smooth painted sides had a red cab top. These units were/are very easy to copy with a professional repaint of the top. If yours is an original, it is quite rare.
