Happy FEF!

I got Monon 444 hauling a freight load on my floor layout. A friend and I have combined our FasTrack collections to do a floor layout upstairs in the train loft at my new house. I have aspirations to get some benchwork going in the not too distant future, so I can get this off the floor.

Monon 444 is a USRA Pacific custom run that @MrMuffin'sTrains did with Lionel back a couple of years ago. One of my favorites!

If you look closely, you may notice the front-end of the 20th Century Limited on the siding on the right. That belongs to the same friend who combined track with me.

Happy Front End Friday everyone! To start off the new year, I'm running some New York Central on my layout, starring this big MTH American Legacy 763e Hudson.

I'm also running my diesel MU pair, front ended by my Railking PS3 GP9. I understand long hood forwards was the NYC's preference in the early steam era, hence the orientation.

Here's the video of the 20th Century Limited and a tanker freight riding the high iron.

Soo GP38-2 from Lionel's 1993 service station set, the "Soo Line Special:"

20240105_043120

I got the whole set NIB and the loco has a few problems, as might be expected from a 30 year-old set. Although the box says "Made and Litho in USA," I believe this might be an example of the first generation of low-cost "China Drive" diesels produced by Lionel during the Kughn era. The "motor-in-truck" design is almost identical to some Chinese-made (Sanda Kan) K-Line locos I have. Anyhow, I've got her hauling my FARR #5 PRR consist + WBB PRR gondola around the oval while I work some of the "bugs" out.

Thats a fine looking set you have Bill!

Well I am a little limited being still at family visiting hence using my archives but I don't think I have posted this on F.E.F. at least not recently.  This is an American Flyer "Hummer" locomotive and tender, this one dated from approximately 1930 although it might be a few years either way on that date.  Clockwork and clearly just a sheet metal model, with little to no detail.  The tender, green was the original color by the way, has a "crackle" finish that I believe is just age related and not what it looked like originally.  So any way, here she is, now 94 + years old and "still ticking"!

Been out all day, so posting one from 2005.  As my wife and I were crossing the tracks at the start of our hike up the Bemis Brook trail to Arethusa Falls, we heard a diesel horn in the distance.  We didn't have to wait too long before the Conway Scenic Railroad train passed us.  I don't remember what CNL was, but I am pretty sure it was an F7 consist.

I can imagine the joy this little loco once brought into a child's life, Don! Now she's bringing joy into ours. Thanks for sharing!
