Happy New Year to my fellow OGR's!!!

Here are slides of a few photos that I took at the Hialeah railyard last Saturday (Boxing Day) when I was riding trains for relaxation that morning.  Apologies for the glare and reflections in the photos as I took these while looking out the window of my Tri-Rail coach.

A line of tired old motive power that are "lashed up " in the yard.  According to Wikipedia, all 5 of these engines were retired from service in 2015

F40's #802, 803, and 805 are from the original service roster in 1989, with 802 and 803 displaying the old livery.

In the background of the last photo is CSX ES44DC #5326 which is obviously still in revenue service.

Last, but not least, is the "rear end" of CSX GP38-3 #2004 that was also in the yard that morning.

Good morning and Happy New Year !!!

In this photo we have two of the Pennsy’s finest passenger and freight engine waiting there turn to enter the main line at West Interlock.

Engine crews from K4 3858 and M1 6715 exchange Happy New Year greetings to each other on this cold January morning in 1949 as they patiently wait for their proceed signal.

Good morning, did you ever have one of those days ??

This will be more than likely the response when West Interlock operator gets home tonight for supper.

On this winter day in January.

Pennsy L1 203 is late with a train of loaded coal hoppers on track two. This train had air pressure problems earlier in the day and is now running 20 minutes late.

With this train late Pennsy M1 6755 can’t cross over onto track two.

Pennsy L1 520 is sitting on track one waiting for 6755 to clear.

There is a short video showing M1 6755 starting its train with loaded coal hoppers.

Just one of those days !!!!!

Love the icicles hanging off the switch tower. Nice visual effect.

Good morning Bill and Chris, I got the icicles at Micheals Craft Stores a couple years ago.

They came in a flat cardboard package that had some very small  Christmas wreaths and evergreen garland. With these items I have decorated many of my  houses and business's. My layout is winter and Christmas themed.  The items that come in the package are very close dimensionally for Ogauge.

I purchased several sets of these packages at the time and currently I am almost out of everything including icicles.

Unfortunately I did not see these items at Micheals or any Craft store this Christmas Season.

Not sure if they where LEMAX , Dickens or some other brand.

At the time to save some space in my work area I took the items out of their cardboard packaging and placed them in my small bolt bin trays for storage and the packaging was discarded so I can't get you a name of the supplier from the packaging.

I glued the icicles to the roofs with Woodland Scenics Water Effects product. At the top of the icicles it looks like ice laying in the rain gutter because the Water Effects drys clear.

Hello F.E.F fans, I must admit it is a dreary, cold, wet day in coastal Georgia today...a temporary location while we visit the east coast (U.S.) branch of our family before traveling back to Texas.  For today I am going to continue my thread of Marx plastic diesels with one from the Missouri Pacific.  I really like this one for its colorful livery and I have a picture with the matching MP caboose.  Its from 1975-76 so its about 45 years new.  It is modeled after the GE 70 Ton Switcher although it is likely a long way from a "scale" model.  After all Mr. Marx made toys, candidly that is what I personally love about them.  I can run them around my simple layout without feeling guilty!!

Hello F.E.F fans, hard to believe that its Friday already, seems like time is flying by - maybe that's because I just retired so I no longer have those "blue Monday, hump day Wed, and Fab Friday" markers anymore !!

First, I noticed a new (to me) marker today...CNJ#1601 so I decided that I would send a picture of my ONE and ONLY CNJ locomotive (by Lionel).  I bought this one from Train World because it was left over inventory and very reasonable.  Unfortunately it is so long that to run it I have to move mountains (my tunnel) as the overhang is so great on my small diameter curves.  It runs like a champ however and has great pulling power.  I grew up very close to the CNJ Jersey City yard and also remember the Hobokin terminal gateway to NYC.  Still used for commuter trains with ferries to the City.

Lionel CNJ Diesel

Continuing my portfolio of Marx diesel switchers, here is another GE 70 Ton in LV colors again reinforcing CNJ # 1601!!  This guy with his matching LV caboose followed the B&O switcher I pictured last week by one year, being offered in 1974-1976.  This one is unique for Marx because it has a DC can motor as opposed to the normal Marx AC motor that they used for decades.  Not sure what led to the switch but it does make the motor assembly much more compact, but really incompatible with almost all other Marx loco's.

Quarter Gauger 48, thank you for the compliment, my layout, a basement based layout, is a modest size walk around, walk under, size is 17’ by 38’, 5 levels, twin helixes, one in each mountain, and minimum diameter 072, up to 0120. All track is either Atlas O or Ross Custom, or Gargraves. It’s all Legacy controlled, I’ve been blessed with lots of great help with Scenery, wiring, lighting, design, and it’s named “Leapin Larry’s Looney Lines RR, because we mix Department 56 buildings, Standard Gauge Accessories and Lionel Accessories all together for fun. All the trackage is connected so you can take any train from the bottom level 43 inch’s off the floor, to the middle level 55 inches off the floor to the top level 77” off the floor. My top priority now is to perfect all of the turnouts to work as intended so as to set up Routing via the Cab 2 remote. There are 19 soon to be 20 individual blocks so trains can be ran Conventionally or by Command Control. The layout was inspired by the 1949 Lionel Showroom layout in New York. I just added some modifications and reverse loops and more turnouts for a more fun to run model railroad. I began in 1996 when Atlas O 21st century track components and Lionels introduction to Command Control. Model trains are so much fun and this forum allows us to learn from others and see different ideas, thoughts, trains, and keeps us sane. Thanks Larry for the information'.. Modest 17 X 38.  I wouldn't call that modest'..😁 It is very impressive'.. I would love to see it in person. your mix of equipment and accessories sounds and looks like fun'.. Good luck with your turnouts'...👍☑👌
