I have recently returned to the hobby and have found that certain of my Lionel TMMC engines from the mid nineties won't run. I can address them with Cab 2 and light and sound operates, but won't move. I have tried to lubricate the gears, but they will not move. Other engines operate fine. Engines in question are a Milwaukee Road 75A F3A/B, A GE Dash 9 and a Wabash Hudson 700, any suggestions?

Disassembly of a motor, drivetrain clean and lubrication is usually the procedure to free a frozen loco. I've seen AC motors freeze but haven't seen any can motors do this. Remove the motors ( one screw holds them in place) and see if you can rotate them by hand. That will isolate the problem to the engine, wheel axles or gearing. If the motor is stuck by removing them you will have access to lubricate the lower bushing. The top one can usually be lubricated with a "needle oiler".
