You have a lot of latitude. Coal mines varied from a shaft with a few buildings to vast complexes dominated by huge "breakers." Around here, the most complete historic facility is located in Ashley, PA. You could Search for "Anthracite Coal Mine Ashley PA." For more modern views with covered conveyors and newer buildings, you could Search for "Anthracite Coal Mines."

As heating oil shrank the market for "hard coal," some mines sent their coal to be "cleaned" at an off-site "breaker." So a mine scene does not have to include that huge buiding.

Let us know how you are coming along.

This is good !!

Mike ct yours is kinda what I was thinking. I like the idea of the mine warehouse, mardoon like yours with the shaft going down into mountain side, laz1957 I like the incline plane with the buckets on rails. and the open pit is good I could put the mine in another area and have a haul road with all kinds of big yellow machines. ReadingFan I know what you mean about a lot of latitude~ Thats why I wanted to see what all you good modelers do, so far I want to take some ideas from each one. Hope I get more suggestions.

Thanks

Clem
