I need to do a couple of wide sweeping curves with Gargraves flex track. I only need 3 pieces.
Where is the best online source to buy this from?
Secondly, would you do the tin or stainless variety? My other track is Ross.

My LHS carries GG and sells it by the section. I am sure someone here will speak up where online you can get.
I use GG tin and SS. The SS has 3 silver rails while the Tin has a black center rail. Both seem to work fine....I bought the SS for a small outdoor layout I never built.
You are likely to pay as much for shipping, as the cost of 3 pieces of flex track. Try to find it local, but if you have to order online you'll probably pay $10 minimum for S&H.
Apply WD-40 to the ties where the rails fit to ease the flex on older track. I usually make a couple of applications and let it stand overnight. The WD-40 odor goes away.
Here is my best advice on using Gargraves Flex Track.....for it saved my sanity many years ago:
Buy preformed curves from Ross or Gargraves. If you use the later, get the ones with the wooden ties.
When I was younger, I marveled at how EASILY my buddies in HO could shape their flex track to whatever radii they wished. So I attempted it with Gargraves...and failed miserably....not that it can't be done.
When I built my current layout 10 or so years ago, Gargraves was just coming out with their wooden tie curves. I was also introduced to this amazing company called Ross Custom Switches....and have never looked back.
Check Ebay. Google Gargraves Flextrak...you can easily find it.
My layout is nothing but Gargraves everything.
You can bend the track. The trick is do it gently and carefully.
Work it down to the desired radius.
DO NOT FORCE IT ALL THE WAY DOWN AT ONCE!
I hold a piece in both of my hands and place the ties against my chest. I slowly, carefully and gently pull the track toward my chest bending it ever so gently. You get the idea.
CONTRARY to what anyone suggests, here is the bottom line: Have a dremel tool with a 2" sharp fresh cut off wheel to make a rail the desired length.
You cannot crush the cut-off ending as you need to insert a pin.
Gargraves track is awesome! I wouldn't use anything else except Ross, because Ross makes a far greater number/type of turnout than Gargraves.
Good luck!
Charles Ro sells it by the piece, and their shipping is usually $9.95 for a standard order.
You can order it directly from GarGraves, too. They're very nice folks to deal with.
I use stainless steel Gargraves track as it don't rust like ordinary Gargraves track does. Don't know if you can order it directly from Gargraves Track Company, as I was told you need to put in a $500.00 order by my local hobby shop owner, maybe it's for him to get a dealer's discount.
When you go to shape the Gargraves track use a shape form or cut-out from wood and it will look better.
