The Country Folk Art Craft show is going on the same time as the Greenberg Train show next week end (Mar. 29 & 30). The craft show draws a lot of people so parking could be tough. Not sure why they put these two shows together. On the plus side, if your significant other doesn't want to look at the trains she has the option of walking the craft show.

Thanx, Joe for the information - I'll be attending so I leave extra early.
Paul
Since our club will be one of a bunch setting up our layout, most of us should be there early and find a decent parking spot.
The show opens at 10 am but we usually don't arrive until 10:30 AM. We dislike waiting on a long line in the cold, like animals, just to get into the train show. We will be there and hopefully parking will be available. Hope to run into some good ORG forums members there
I have been to this show several times. I never understand why the dealers have to take up all the spaces closest to the building. The organizers need to make them park their trailers in the outlying parking lots.
T shirts to recognize forum members??? Something to think about.

Joe:
Thanks for the warning. That craft show draws massive crowds. I can only imagine where some people will end up having to park. That's going to be a tough situation to deal with.
Bob
thanks Joe, I may pass this time. the Harolds incentive is not there as I have had my fill of corned beef this week
Look for the pickle guy.
I will be going to the show on Saturday and hope to see many of you.
When I told my wife there was a crafts show next door, she googled it and said she absolutely had to go to it.
There is no doubt that Harold's is on the agenda. But John, it's not just corned beef. There's pastrami, roast beef, rye bread and butter, HUGE pickles, and all sorts of good stuff that can really add on the pounds and raise the blood pressure.
And -- if you don't have it already -- you should be able to get the physical version of Lionel's new catalog.
Well worth the trip.
Gerry
Guys,
Be sure to stop by the METCA table. You can learn about the TCA or the Metropolitan Division. You can sign up and join TCA (and METCA) on-the-spot. You can learn about the 2015 TCA National Convention being hosted by METCA in the New York metro area. Feel free to pick up one of our fundraising cars that we'll have available.
I'll be there Saturday only, but the table will be staffed by others on both Saturday and Sunday.
Stu
And as an added bonus, we get to hassle Stu. What a glorious day!!

That's one of my favorite show's, I could get a lot of stuff there, I used to get
a ride from my Uncle at the Metropark train station and go that way to bad
there's no bus or something to get there, cab's are a little expensive.

Agreed! This is a popular show so Management can show some muscle here with the dealers.
Hi guys, I'll be there as usual, about halfway up, next to Clickety Clack Toys. Forum members, please stop by and say hi! Check out my resto single dome tank cars and
some new items. In any case, have fun! Mike
Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll get there bright and early and read the paper in the car before I get on line.
Gerry, Alex....see you there I hope.
Just bringing this up again as an updated reminder for anyone going to the show.
I'm ready to go. I hope they have the new Lionel catalog there but it doesn't sound like it will be out until next week.
Gerry
Thanks, Joe. I'll leave Allentown early enough to allow for rain and parking issues. Look forward to seeing 'most' of you!
Looks like many of the good guy regulars will be there. Should arrive there around 10AM and hope to find a parking spot.
Everyone that goes to this show should complain to the promoter about all the vendors parking their trailers and trucks in the closest parking spots. Most are parked there for the whole show and it wouldn't hurt them to park in the outer lot.

Doesn't that make it easier for the dealers to bring in their merchandise ....
Try being a dealer and see what you are up against-then complain you have to walk a little further. Some of us could use the exercise!!!
The dealers unload at the front or side doors. They park when they are done, some taking up four spaces. The biggest complaint brick and mortar stores have is another store owner parking in front of their business and blocking all the parking.

Actually at malls, at the supermarket and at this train show I deliberately park far back in the parking lot so I can get in a bit more walking. The handicapped and the sedentary can have the front spots, just give me a spot far out back. Something to consider for the hardcore spectators.
Great show and a lot of fun today. I basically hung with Chris Lord and Bob DeGuarde who are also NJ HiRailers. We saw Alex, Chuck who came all the way from Allentown, Dave Fortnoy from Philly, Stu Rankin who was hawking METCA (I'm a member) and a lot of other good people. We shopped for our bargains, found them and departed with our treasures.
Missuses DeGuarde, Lord and Morlitz were busy in the craft show and bead show doing the same.
Then we did what we do best. We went to Harold's. A culinary feast.
Unfortunately, we missed the Iuliucci's at the show. But we saw them at Harold's also:
Unfortunately, the Scaravellas were not able to join us. they missed a great time.

I went to the show. I didn't find anything I had to have and the pickle guy was set up in the craft show side, so no pickles or stuffed hot olives for me. I did notice a bunch of trailers parked in the prime spots closest to the building. Most businesses make their employees park away from the building to allow room for the customers.
I am very disapointed we missed you guys, rainy days and teenagers
Sorry I missed the show today, I always got great stuff there. Hey those onion
rings look real good!

Great show. Nice layouts. And it was fun to run into fellow forumites. I don't understand the angst over parking. Rain aside, I have no problem walking a couple hundred feet to a train show at which i'll probably walk a couple of miles. Having helped a some friends/vendors load up at the Allentown show on a few occasions I can appreciate why a facility would permit them to park close to the building. If not for 90 miles I'd go back tomorrow.
My biggest complaint about the vendor parking is they park their trailers taking up two to four spaces. They can park out at the end of the lot and leave the closer spaces to the people.

Gee, there were lots of pickles at Harold's. There were sour pickles, semi-sour pickles, sliced pickles, big pickles, smaller pickles, sliced pickles but no gherkins. I guess my pickle barrel was more than half full.
There wasn't parking close to the entrance. You had to walk. And it was raining. I got wet. I didn't melt. The reason you had to walk was because there were lots of customers. Sort of like the shows at the Raritan Center. But no trucks. It was worth it.

I was able to find and purchase a Williams Broadway Limited Passenger car set ( at a great price) and a few Scenic Express items. I just cannot go to a show/meet without buying at Scenic Express.
This is my show observation. Still many good dealers there and probably the largest assortment of trains, parts, accessories and stuff in this area. I noticed little buying activity but competitive prices, great layouts and a moderate but not large crowd. This show is fun and the one to attend in New Jersey. Sorry that I didn't run into anyone there but I was in by 10:15AM did my business and out by 12 noon.
This show must have been less than stellar, judging from the lack of posts I know more about the parking than I do the show
This is always the slowest of the Edison Greenberg shows. The aisles are wider than usual (that's good!) and the vendors are fewer than usual (that's bad). It seems to me that there are a lot more toys than than at the other shows.
For instance:
I did pick up some Lionel scale PFEs to pull behind my VL Big Boy when it arrives.

Thanks Gerry you got my name wrong and I thought we were friends. Remember it is Fortney not Fortnoy.
Had a great time at the show, saw allot of friends and picked up a some scenery materials at scenic express.
The 90 mile drive in the rain is not fun but had a good time, glad I went.
