I attended the train show in Bluefield WV today. It's a 2.5 hour drive and I need nothing.....but I had not been to a train show in well over a year and just wanted to go. Show was decent. Maybe 20 vendors, I know a micro show to you folks, about 10 running layouts. Had a good time and only bought 2 items other than the current magazines. I am not sure what it is....but I can't resist Reefer units. I just did a inventory of locos and cars and told myself anything coming home had to be something other than cars and locos. I kept 50% of that deal. I can not turn down these MTH wood reefers....and since I didn't have this one I bent the rule.
I also bought the Woodland Scenics Morrison Door factory......no photo as I am not going to unpack right now. But it is a GREAT looking structure and will speed things up.....even though I prefer to build my own. This O-27 layout had a number of operating accessories and had a great feel and look,
Outside the show was some real trains!!!!
I then drove over to Princeton WV to visit the Virginian train station and museum. I had never been to it....didn't know it was there until OGR forum member 'Salty' told me about it. It's a fantastic replica station, very well done inside and out. Inside are many displays of railroad history and models. One of the nicest small town stations in the country. The folks running the museum were very nice and helpful. And the place is 100% wheelchair accessible, both floors, important to me after I spent two years in one. I took home ideas to use in our town as we have a C&O station sitting empty right now.
Speeders and a caboose outside.....
Overall a GREAT Fall train day......everyone else was busy so I enjoyed a train day alone. Sorry I missed Salty but I will return on a better day. Thanks
A few more photos from today......
